The song really took off when Luis released the remix with Justin Bieber in April 2017. In fact, the "Despacito" music video became so popular that it became the most viewed YouTube video of all time in August 2017. It remained so until November 2020 before the release of viral sensation children's song "Baby Shark".

"Despacito" was a mega-hit across the globe, with people singing its Spanish lyrics — even those who did not speak the language.

"Despacito" is written by Luis Fonsi (Luis Rodríguez) and Erika Ender, along with Daddy Yankee and Raymond Ayala.

But what does the song really mean?
Well, "Despacito" lyrics are actually pretty saucy. The literal translation of the word 'despacito' is 'slowly' in English and the song is about wanting to dance slowly with someone while getting very close.
